Is it racism or ignorance!

Let’s start by examining the most basic definition of racism—the dictionary meaning. According to the American Heritage College Dictionary, racism has two meanings. Firstly, racism is, “The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.” Secondly, racism is, “Discrimination or prejudice based on race.”

Ignorance is a state of being uninformed (lack of  knowledge) The word ignorant is an adjective describing a person in the state of being unaware and is often used as an insult.

Being a foreigner i can openly say i have encountered people who have subjected me and my friends to racism and some are simply ignorant! i have in some moments being so angry and left wondering what can be done? will it ever end? what generation will end this? and what type of education systems will help in this?. Have our education systems contributed to how we see things? Don't get me wrong, in here i talk about all of us irrespective of what race we belong to because most of us, in each community or race have some character in us that doesnt like another character in some different race or tribe or community or continent!

When i think of my history lessons way back when i was an innocent child and the teacher was right in everything, i feel like someone somewhere instilled in me that the white race, didnt like us, and they came, colonized us, stole our land, tortured our forefathers sold their brothers up for slavery and practically didnt like us! so how was i as a child supposed to like someone who did that to my grandparents? i feel this happened along time ago, and i know even countries abroad clolonized each other (take for example finland, colonized by the sweds plus their battle with russia)but why then aren't they all enemies and they work together? Because they got over it! yea nobody taught us how to get over it and thus many people from my race feel inferior and with low self esteem.lets please get over it because the world is a better place and it can be if we all changed our attitudes!

It makes me clinge when i walk past someone and they snear, or call me some name, or simply show me that i dont belong here. Well i know its not my home but hey i believe i am soo much needed wherever i am as much as someone from here is much needed by my country. we are all human beings and nobody chose to be born black, white, pink or yellow. the other day my friend was walking home and was attacked by some teenagers( i think people should skip teenagehood) telling her that she has the wrong colour(smh), n i wonder and who said you have the right colour? They are abit lucky it wasnt me they encountered cos am a very outspoken person i believe! like the other day someone was smelling on me, that they wanted to know how a nigger smelt(well thats a story for another day, cos he can surely tell u what me n my friend did to him, thanks to 13inch heels and the power of alcohol).

I also know we have some believe in us that people are againist us, watch my black community and someone does something small to us and we start labelling them racists! eeish yawa, come down people what will you say to me if i do the same thing to you? GET OVER IT!. My finnish friend was working in some other country and some african girl joined their basketball team and the other africans couldnt be friends with her anymore? surely! what does a game have to do with race...aaarrgghh! some of this shit is just unbeliavable. i walked past the club the other day and saw guys branding the bouncer racist because he could not let them in the club!(lol) the main reason they were denied was cos they were too drunk and disorderly, a rule that applies to anyone who wants to access the area, yet they soo wanted to take advantage of the fact that they can use reverse psychology on the bouncer, poor them and bravo that bouncer that it didnt work! BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS DEMN IT!

When it comes to ignorance, i cant believe i have met people in this day and era who have never seen an african person or a white person, with all tv and free travel passes in the world. this gets to the point where the education system would boost this. i hav watched kids cry helplessy when i make faces to them(yes i do when their parents arent watching) n those kids have never seen a dark skinned person and i do understand them! its not their fault! geez parents pls take ur children for strolls and teach them accordingly. This being a very wide topic, i so hope for that day and era when they will be no racism, discrimination! where the world will work together as one to lift up the unfortunate and promote equality. i hope and pray i will live to see that day and i swear, i will die in peace knowing that my children, grandchildren will have it easier than i did. LETS US DO OUR PART, LETS LEARN DIFFRENT CULTURES AND EMBRASS THEM, IT WOULD BE SOO BORING IF WE ARE ALL ALIKE AND DO THE SAME THINGS. LETS LEARN NEW THINGS FROM DIFFERENT PEOPLE AND ABOVE ALL RESPECT AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER! ONE LOVE!
