Road trip in SaudiArabia

I tell you, it was a good day! We borrowed my friends husband for the day, rented a car and he had no choice but to drive us all day! Thank you Sami, it seems you had to fly all the way here for us to get to go on a road trip! We could have helped you drive but well.. you understand...! oh don't be so shocked! We also took the wife with us, but only because she was the one carrying the marriage certificate and my look and the name in that certificate don't match!, our other friend wouldn't have passed that test either.
We set out insearch of a lake! The fact that there is a lake in this desert that I haven't heard of in the last 6 months got me excited! I love water bodies, and they are scarce in deserts! On our way there, we saw squad bikes and the inner child was allowed to come out, mine though was still asleep! They woke me up early on a Saturday but it was worth it!
After the children had played for an hour, we continued! Set with google map and directions from a blog! We hit the road! I have to say they are lucky I wasn't responsible for the map  read cos we could have been still on the way to the lake😂! I hated geography cos the crazy geo teacher in our high school once beat me, almost broke my hand for dropping his subjects grade! Karma caught up with him though! Amen!

A few hours later of funny talks, laughs, beautiful red sand dunes, a few wrong turns, wild camels, eating crisps, chewing gum... Yes, i armosta started singing but i figured my cracked voice would haunt our driver! And he was the only male so i spared the rest that kind of agony! And Alas! We found the lake! We did not have enough bottles of water to fill up the lake! It was dry! What? We just drove all the way! So we agreed it cant be the lake! And we set out again to find lake khararal!
Can you spot the lake? Lower picture on the right! Yea! Behind the humans..Lake Khararal.

We ended up in a town Called Durma! The road signs were all in Arabic so we took right! Right is always right! We grabbed some coffee and residents stared hard at this white people with their black tour guide! It was there that we thought of driving to the poorer side just to see and get our guest the whole Saudi attire, I thought it would reduce the stares but it was even more amusing that a young boy wanted his dad to take a photo of him with the saudilized white man! Go on little boy! Your dreams are valid!
After bombarding our brains! I lied, mine was more motivating the rest! We actually found out that what we saw was the lake! The whole area, shape of a place where a massive body of water once lay, was deserted! The lake has dried up and all that was left is a bed! Well the acrobatics entertained us so we were not at all disappointed!
The Lake bed.

On our way home! We enjoyed a good meal at an Indian restaurant! Drove through the hustlers street! Got me amazed on how it is with governments no matter where you go! I did not expect to see real hustlers, in funny looking streets, looking abit taken by life in one of the richest countries in the world!
Dried up Lake Khararal right pic in the bottom.

Thank you my friends for a good day! Whose husband is coming next? We could book a driver😂😂
