Work Smiling, Happy and Healthy:-)

Image
Some weeks ago i attented this work seminar about happy and healthy working. I had such a wonderful day that i felt the need to share it out and who knows, we might end up loving our jobs more or i might end up brightening someone's day and hopefully help in the situation with job disatisfaction. Let's be honest, not everyone loves their jobs(some are there because bills have to be paid or there was no other job available), and even if you love your job, not everyday you jump out of bed excited to go to work. I love my job but sometimes it takes real pushing to go to work. The other day, i was running to change after my shift, i ran past this woman and said bye, and she asked, are you always running like this to work in the mornings too?, i just smiled. Ha! you bet!!  I applaud everyone who has worked same job, same office, same people for over 10 years, wow! It takes patience for such. well, here are some tips i learnt that day and been putting them into practice. Le...

Connecting to another human being!

Five years ago, my country was up in flames! Reason being that a president had been voted in (or whatever happened that they found their way there). Sad thing is, the people who were in power, rich and protected remained rich and protected!. My fellow kenyans, lost their property, their friends, and their homes. They suffered emotional and pysical abuse that has affected their lives directly or indirectly since then to date. It is sad when we have been friends and neighbours long enough in life that it was ok just pop in unannounced and have dinner, to being the same people who slaughtered each other to death because suddenly we had realised that we were from differrent tribes or had originated from differrent parts of the country. We only realised the differrence after the elections!. We owe it to ourselves to think and analyse the gains we get from these so called politicians. Politics is the dirtiest game we have watched revolve in kenya, from politicians hating on each o...

Things we should get over! kenya/uganda.

Having recently visited home. I was quite excited, u know the feeling you got as a kid knowing you are going somewhere u anticipate! that's how i feel a day before i catch that flight to kenya. So excited that my one best moment was when we got to kenya soo drunk early one morning and sang the national anthem upon landing. Mind you, we sang the 1st verse perfectly then started mumbling after(shame on us) considering we stood alert for 8 + 4 years every monday and friday and sang that anthem! back to the list, honestly i have to learn to stop interacting my own stories. As i was saying, there are behaviours us as east africans need to get over or rather improve if we so need to be compatible with the rest of the world. my friends were laughing as i told them and thought i have lived abroad so long! truth be told, whether its being home they still distract us, yet we pretend not to care and live moss moss while we fu#%&N! oops, i curse sometimes! while we get soo pissed if w...

Knowing happiness!

Image
During the last couple of months, so much has happened in my life that am surprised! i mean i am very surprised with life and with myself! i have had some time to think and reflect and i realize i am b happy! I am happy with the changes and i can't have it any other way! no way! smh. How simple life can be if we let ourselves be what we want and do what we want without the what ifs and maybes! i know that we complicate our lives  and we are the only ones who can take charge of situations in us and change them for the better or for worse! Lets keep in mind as i have said before that we have one life and there is no sad life than to live unhappy and with regrets. Yes, we make many mistakes in our lives but those should be a stepping stone for the better, we break and we learn our own strength! Life throws alot on us. Things change in seconds just like it gets dark at night and then light comes in the morning. Say for instance, someone close to us dies, those who are left feel like ...

When we are not good enough!

If anybody could open up our hearts, what would they find? we have things packed up in some closet in our hearts that if opened they could be some landslide! the closet is so locked somewhere at the bottom of our hearts and the key holder as they say died long goes, so as long as the key cannot be found, those things, emotions, anger, love are locked up and forgotten! i dont know people who love to keep things like the likes of us all! why do we keep them? why would someone be soo angry with us and look at us and smile while the other person has no idea what they did! pls people, lets just grow up! If i wrong you just walk straight up and tell me, then al tell you why i wronged then we can agree to disagre, hug in tears proclaiming our love(gals!lol) or just make sure that spot we met will never grow nothing again! however we choose to resolve it just walk up and say how you feel! Talking about what we feel free's us from some kind of self imprisonment! Walking away makes us sad ...

Empower the girl child!

what is it that comes to my mind when i think about the girl child? Alot i could say! Alot! Me having being one of them, it saddens me how the girl child comes out as! well, sometimes we enjoy it we cant say we dont( esp for attention lovers! like me! ha!). Depending on which part of the world you grow up in and the way communities have valued the girl child. I was over the moon when saudi agreed to send the female team to the olympics(hands up men! good job well done). To believe that a woman's place is somewhere, at home, taking care of husband and children while the men explore the world is a totally unfair thing! Imagine the pressure on those women, to shine and show the world that they deserved that after fighting for long! And down in history it will go, that women did participate in the olympics and am soo glad it starts from here! I am glad our mothers fought for some things, but woe unto us, we are still fighting to liberate ourselves. To know that we can do something!...

Is it racism or ignorance!

Let’s start by examining the most basic definition of racism—the dictionary meaning. According to the American Heritage College Dictionary , racism has two meanings. Firstly, racism is, “The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.” Secondly, racism is, “Discrimination or prejudice based on race.” Ignorance is a state of being uninformed (lack of   knowledge ) The word ignorant is an adjective describing a person in the state of being unaware and is often used as an insult. Being a foreigner i can openly say i have encountered people who have subjected me and my friends to racism and some are simply ignorant! i have in some moments being so angry and left wondering what can be done? will it ever end? what generation will end this? and what type of education systems will help in this?. Have our education systems contributed to how we see things? Don't get me wrong, in here i talk a...
